This would mark the first time the 2012 AMA / FLEXX Bars West Chec Series would travel in the the great state of Nevada and the Western States Racing Association made sure to give riders their monies worth! With 108 miles of high desert riddled with rocks, cacti, twists, turns, more rocks and a few more rocks a lot of the Northern California Enduro riders seemed out of their element. The event was also co-sanctioned between AMA's District 36 and the Motorcycle Racings Association of Northern Nevada (MRANN).
The National Restart format and tough terrain would play right into the hands of local hero Dennis Belingheri who is leading the MRANN overall points for 2012. In the first special test he set the bar very high dropping only 1 minute while D36's Nolan Irwin would drop 2 minutes followed by fellow D36 racer Ryan Powell just 6 seconds behind. The entire top 20 would stay within 2 minutes of the lead making things very interesting going inth the next special tests.
The course would twist up and down the rocky canyons, getting tougher and tougher as the day went on. The 55 mile first loop would end with many already exhausted and with another 55 miles ahead. Belingheri would maintain his lead onto the second loop and extend it even further by posting the fastest times of the day finishing the entire event 12.045. Powell would hold strong in 2nd overall finishing with 13.0521 followed by Irqin in 3rd with 14.0619.
